The death is announced of Mr .Joseph Bell, district coroner at Whangarei, and an old identity. He was the fatter of Mrs A. J. Cadman. '- ■
In the divorce case of Sidnej- Wilson Brown v. Clarice Matilda Brown (respondent) and E. W. Rowlings (co-respondent), a decree nisi was granted, with costs against the co-respondent. There was' no appearance of respondent or co-respondent.
Considerable interest is taken in the local option poll.

Sapper Head, who was injured: in the^ Mahanga Bay explosion, was to-day discharged from the hospital, of which he has been an inmate for 17 weeks.
In the Supreme Court in the' case' of W. R. Linley v. D'r Tuackin, a claim of £1000 damages for alleged negligent treatment for an affection of the eye, the jury, after a few minutes' retirement, returned a verdict for defendant, with costs. ',
