CHRISTCHUROH, September 8.
Tliq second annual show o[ the Canterbury Kennel Club was opened to-day. The judges wuro:—Mr F. Briggs, for collies, fox and Airedale terriers; Mr F. Dpmbraiu, for bulldogs, bull and other terriers, and toys; Mr J. N. Hamer, for mastiffs, St. Bernards, Newfoundlands, deerhounds, and Irish terriers; Mr A. R. Rags, for greyhounds; Mr W. C. Leversedge, for setters, pointers, retrievers, and spaniels. The., following are the chief prize-takers:—Greyhounds (dogs), Mr Hill's Chester. English ' setters—Mr. Hunter's Bolton Rock, Belton Allister, and Eocton Rothsay. Irish setters—Messrs Bund and Westlake's Garry and Lyttelton Shelah. Retrievers (black) —Mr Watson's Ruir Lad ; flat coated, Dr Newman's Buckle. Collies (dogs)— Messrs Wark and Burland's' Annsbearer; bitches (Bitches' Gold Medal Championship, for members of the New Zealand Collie Club only). Messrs P>oo;en and Andrew's Shetland Grace Cocker, Mr Dunlop's Waihopai Signal, Mr Wilson's Rika. Airedale terriers—Dr Newman's Hobson Test; bitches, Mr M'Culloeh's Waipawa Kitty. Irish terriers—Mr M!Culloeh's Waipawa Con. Fox terriers—Mr Grave's Cowloy . Pat and Covriey Promise. Scottish terriers —Mr Hunter's Rey. Bulldogs—Mr Fuller's Barney.
