WAIKOUAITI LICENSINGCOMMITTEE.
An adjourned meeting of the .Waikouaiti Licensing Committee was held in the Magistrate's Court, Port Chalmers, yesterday, when the following commissioners were present:— Mr E. H. Carew', S.M., president,"the Rev. Canon Lucas, Messrs Porteous, Cable, and Harrison.
The application for a renewal of the license of the Golden Fleece Hotel, Waikouaiti, by Patrick Toomey, was considered. The police reported that the applicant had mado the necessary repairs, and supplied proper fire escapes.—The Bench granted his request. The adjourned application of Edward M'Cormack for the renewal of the license to the George Hotel, George street, was next heard. Mr Hanlon appeared for Mr M'Cormack, and Mr Solomon represented the owners of the property.-The Chairman stated that the police reported that tlio applicant had been convicted, fined .Os and his. license endorsed on July 1 for allowing drunkenness upon his. premises. Since then tha police had no complaints' to make, and reported that the applicant was making the necessary repairs to the house,—The license was granted.
