Daily Times Office, Friday evening. The amount of revenue collected at the custom house to-day on goods cleared for consumption was £675 12s. The ground lease of the Gladstone Hotel and buildings adjoining, for a term of 21 years, and at an upset rental of £110 per annum, with a condition that the purchaser should take the buildings at valuation, was put up to auction yesterday by Messrs Sievwright Bros, and Co. There was a good attendance of the public, but no one felt inclined to bid. Tho lease now becomes the property of the Standard- Insurance Company. SOUTHLAND PRODUCE MARKET. INVERCARGILL, August 18. Jewellery, etc., may also be sent by parcel post if insured for at least a portion of their value, or registered. Packets must not be closed against inspection, but so securely fastened as to prevent any of the contents going astray during transit.
