Daily Times Office, Friday evening. The amount of revenue collected at the custom house to-day on goods cleared for consumption was £675 12s. The ground lease of the Gladstone Hotel and buildings adjoining, for a term of 21 years, and at an upset rental of £110 per annum, with a condition that the purchaser should take the buildings at valuation, was put up to auction yesterday by Messrs Sievwright Bros, and Co. There was a good attendance of the public, but no one felt inclined to bid. Tho lease now becomes the property of the Standard- Insurance Company. SOUTHLAND PRODUCE MARKET. INVERCARGILL, August 18. Oats.—There is little change to report in this market. Offerings from tho country are very light, and stocks of A grade are very limited, and this quality is being held for Is Old, B for Is si<l, and C for Is 4Jd, f.0.b., Bluff (sacks in). There are large quantities in farmers' hands. Chick wheat is in good demand at 2s Id, 1.0.b., Bluff (sacks in, net). Correspondence, specially addressed, will close at this office on Tuesday, 22nd, at 10.20 a.m. Parcels for the United Kingdom, etc., will close at 9.30 a.m. Mails for Fiji, Japan, Hawaiian Islands, Canada, United States,- Continent of Europe, United Kingdom, etc., per Upolu, will closo at Auckland on the 10th August, at 11 a.m. The Hinemoa will Heave the Bluff for Preservation Inlet and Islands south of New Zealand, on the evening of the 22nd. Mails for Cromarty, Puysegur, and Te Oneroa, per Rimu, will close at Invercargill on the 21th, at 2 p.m. Mails from South Africa, from Melbourne, Ist September, Moravia, Gth September. On and after Monday next, 14th inst., a daily mail will -be despatched to and received from Alexandra South, via Lawrence. On and after Monday, the 14th inst., a Post Office will be open at Halfway Bush. Mails despatched and received daily at 8 a.m. NOTICE.-Watches7~Jewel!ery, etc.-From Monday next, 14th inst., watches, jewellery, 'etc., over 10s in value, may be sent in open packets at Id for the first 4oz, and Jd for each succeeding 2oz, provided the packets are registered. Jewellery, etc., may also be sent by parcel post if insured for at least a portion of their value, or registered. Packets must not be closed against inspection, but so securely fastened as to prevent any of the contents going astray during transit.
