Tlie Clerk Taieri County Council, Mosgielforwardod cheque for the payment' of £16, being half-cost of the work on the Boundary road in block VII, between the 'counties of Waihemo. and Taieri.—Received. Mr Ewah M'Donald, Waihemo, wrote stating that while, thanking the-council for the track formed on road line leading to-section 3, block VIII, Waihomoj he desired to draw attention to the fact that, so far as driving sheep was concerned, the road was simply useless. He therefore trusted the • council' would see their way to cut the tussocks to the widtli of 12ft or. 14ft,. or burn them off.— Received. . %he- Chairman Maniototo County Council, wrote stating that at the last meeting of the council the correspondence referring to the repairs to the' Hydo, bridge and the inadequacy of the vote of'£lso from Government to defray the cost, of effecting the repairs, and understanding; that the Wailicmo County Council had made application to have the votn largely supplemented, the Maniotolo I County Covmcil agreed that the necessary repairs to:tho'bridge should be proceeded with as soon as the reply was-received from the Waihemo Council agreeing to bear half the cosit over and above any grant the Government may make. The Valuer-general, Wellington, wrote stating that as the result of the Minister, foi Land's inquiries and investigations he hac decided to cancel the second instalment o' the cost of the' recent valuations charged tc local authorities. with the proportion of ths annual expenditure for the year endinc March 31, 1899; and that in addition to tl\i= the third instalment,, which was' payabli ■during tho fmanuial year 1900-1901, would hi reduced by. the proportion of the, cost ol preparing maps charged to the local authori ties.
