LAVATORIES FOR WOMEN.
TO THE EDITOR;
Sin, —Everyone must agree as to the great want of the above; but I fancy there will be a rock ahead as to the cost and management of them. Not having been in.the old country for some time, I am ignorant on the proceedings there; but it seems to me it is not entirely a Dunedin affair. The persons for whom they will be erected come not only from the suburbs, but by train from long distances ; consequently, it should not be the city ratepayers only that should bear the expense. My idea,is that the matter should.be tried first'in the lour chief towns of New Zealand ; that the Government should erect the buildings, and either themselves find the different sites, or arrange with the city corporations so to do ; and that a small charge should be made sufficient to pay, interest on the cost, repairs, attendance, etc.—l am,- etc., - . ■: • Progeesj.
