DAILY MAIL TO ALEXANDRA.

TO THE EDITOR.

Sib, —As you are aware, it is very seldom I trouble you with correspondence, being most

averse to that form of self-advertising, but I cannot allow the letter, of the Alexandra branch of tho Central Otago Railway League, under the above heading, to pass without a reply. 'The whole tone of,the letter,is aggressive to me, unci I hope this is due to. the secretary's zeal in the cause rather than to the opinion of the members of the branch, as I hardly think a body of public men woidd adopt this tone. 'The time required for the coach journey, as stated by the secretary, goes to support my contention, and I think this time is underestimated; but no one will be more pleased than I if the time table" indicated can be carried out.

Anyone calmly reading my letter to the Railway League would see that my statement was put forward as an argument to push on the railway to i'oolburn, in the interests of the Alexandra people, and I am sure tbe people of Alexandra outside of the branch league would read it in that light; but if they, being "fully alive to their own interests," do not wish for any outside assistance, then it only remains for me to apologise for having attempted to assist according to my lights, and promise .not to do so again. " As to my attitude to the railway, so severely commented on by the branch league, that is a matter I ara quite content to leave lo the public.—l am, etc., Kobeut Logan. Maritanga, November 17.
