A WEALTHY PAUPER.
WELLINGTON, September 6.. At a meeting of the Benevolent Trustees this afternoon it was stated that one of the late inmates, Mrs Williams, had bequeathed £800, half of which, after payment of certain expenses, was to go to the matron of the home, £70 to the matron's daughter, and the balance (about £1.60) to be invested so as to provide an annual sum for the purchase of "comforts for the inmates of the home. The Rev. J. K. Elliott moved-that the master and matron of the home be called upon to resign. He said he did not feel that undue influence had been used in; the matter, but a woman who was as \yell to do as Mrs Williams should not have been: admitted into a home meant for the indigent, and it did not look ivell that within a month i after being admitted to the home she should draw .up such a will. After some discussion: the motion was lost, Mr Elliott being its'only supporter. -.. ■ ... ;■:'.■,'-...-."..'>;.;Ss:
