Admira.l Pearson, to an interviewer, sai6 that he was not prepared to make public any opinion* he might hold as to the present aspect of dffairß between America and .Spain. The recent victory of America at Manila was jast what he had anticipated. With reference to the visit of the Royal Arthur, the admiral said that he had come ju»fc to look round and see for himself the different harbours and form seme idea of their defensiveness. He had had not come to inspect the defences, end had heard nothing about them. '
