WAITAHUNA SHOW.

The, seventeenth show, of the Waifcahuna Agricultural and Pastoral Society was held at 3 Waitahnna on Wednesday in splendid weather, aad there was n good attendance. There were J altogether 209, entries, which is a slight increase i in Lumber as compared with last year. ■■ The entries were made up as follows:—Cattle, 44 ; b hor£es,'4B; sheep,- 4-6"; poultry, 6; dairy pro- i diice, 27; cured, meat*, A; extra exhibits, 34. In the -cattle' section of the show 'there was just n one more entry than there waa last year. The ft shorthorns, of which- there were seven, were a very ordinary lot, with the exception of one bull, which was a fairly good sp'scimen of bis■ breed. Ayrshire'cattle were represented, by 15 g entrie?, there being a few fairly, good animals among.the number. The best class-were the 5 "cows' iiV milk, any age.". Only.three Here-, ford cattle were shown, including a bull of a good stamp. , The crossbred' cattle were.more numerous than anyothsr class, there being-in j all 19 entries, and some presentable dairy .cows' ( were exhibited iii this section of tlis show. A special prize for tne most points in cattle 1 waa gained by-Mr R. Ccaig, with 47 points. Mr D. Stevenson.came next with 20, points. Draught horsas were mueh'more numerous than they were last year, there beiu^ 21 • entries, aa ; against five in 1896. The qnality oftthe stock « exhibited was, however, not very good, taking it all through, most of the animals shown being ] blemished in-some' respect. But among the ] exhibits were a couple of eatries which wer^; ■ decidedly superior to the balk of the'draught ■ stock on view.
