(Received December 29, at 10.5 a.m.) A ballot amongst members of the Engineers' Society resulted in a majority of 100 to 1 against the masters' proposals. Twenty-four thousand Eve hundred votes were recorded. A thousand additional lock-out noticss were issued by the masters to-day.
(Received Dec.mber SO, at 0.30 a.m.) Mr Barnes, secretary of the Engineer?, states that the society still has a fighting fund of LIIO.OOO. Tbe Times states thafc many of the federated shops will reopen in fche new year, the men resuming on the masters terms. .',„_. .. . ,_ The Daily News says the ballot which has b=_n taken is equivalent fco a vote of censure on the Unionist leaders for attempting to bring about a compromise on the questions of hours and managament.
