RE PILLAR BOXES.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —In Monday morning's iesue of your paper I • noticed a letter referring to th« post office pillar box at St. Andrew straet. I may be able to throw a little light on the subject, and show your correspondent that he evidently labours under a mistake when he says ~ the pillar box was overflowing. This seeming overflow of the bos was caused by a number oE large papers, posted by one of our prominent booksellers of George street, near St. Andrew jitrest, becoming jammed inside the box about a foot from tha top—thus debarring the general public from making use of the bos in the way the Postal department doubtless intends it should be. On Monday morning I opened the, box as usual and found it !\s above stated, all the letters in the top unable to get down on account oE these papers being jammed. This ia not the first time this same box hss been made a convenience of by one or two large firms of booksellers in the vicinity, and tho general_public inconvenienced through no fault of mine. I might possibly be indirectly censured for not clearing the bos, henco this justification.—l am, &a., September ♦. Mail Contbactor.
