THE DAUGHTER OF A HUNDRED EARLS. Bx FABIAN BELL, , Author of "The Price of a Life," "He and She," "The Letter in Cypher," "32ad Share," "The Maharajah's Jewels," 11 After Long Years," " The Dark Companion," &c. A ROMAMTO LOCAL STORY. The First Instalment of a New Story oE Life and Adventure, entitled THE DAUGHTER OF A HUNDRED EARLS; Will be published in, THE OTAGO DAILY TIMES On SATURDAY, Sbd' APRIL. » / -The story is intended to show the difference between physical and psychic heredity. There are some curious hypnotic experiences in which the writer enforces the fact running through the whole tale that good must triumph over evil.

The tale is f nil of life and adventure, many exciting scenes both in New Zealand and England. It relates the adventures of a colonial family suddenly raised to wealth and position by the death of a relative—how they received the news, how they got to England, the impression they made in society, &c. The comic element is supplied by two amusing and typical bush children, who relieve the more serious parts of the story by their wild escapades. Fabian Bell ii favourably known in relation to former stories, especially ."The Price of a Life," which has appeared in several papers, Home and colonial, and has beln universally considered to show great power, insight into character, and constructive ability. Fabian Bell has long been a great favourite with the New Zealand Public. Of a previous story— the "Thirty-second Share"—Me Scobie Mackenzie writes: "It is interesting throughout, being told with much simplicity and directness; in its fidelity to life it bears evidence of a good deal of sharp observation, and a pleasant touch of humour is not lacking. I think lam justified in saying that there is about it the flavour of genuine literature." THE STORY WILL BE COMMENCED On SATURDAY, APEIL 3. OTA.GO WITNESS THURSDAY MARCH 25.
