SANITARY CONFERENCE.

• London, February 18. The International Sanitary Conference is being held at Venice. The representatives of France aud Russia urged the immediate ratification of tha Paris Convention. The British delegates said they were confident that the precautionary measures taken by England were sufficient to guard against the introduction of disease.

Sydney, February 19. Sir John Forrest, Premier of Western Australia, suggests that if the conference is held not later than the 15th March, or if held on the 29th and then adjourned towards the close of the year, Western Australia will he-able to take part in it. Mr Reid, the Premier, believes that there would be no difficulty in commencing on the 29th pror., but it would be impossible on the 15th, »b the writs would not ba returned.
