White, i 1 J.P's) * A'Charge op Themt.—William Crilchley, a boyl2 years of age, was charged with atea-lini'two tramway tickets, a pocket kuife, and£l 1% 4d ia money, the property of Herbert Fenton, on January 3i.' Accused was further charged with stealing, ou February 7, a gold watch and chain valued £13, a cheque for £1, a penknife, a pair of scissors, sin* 12s in money, the properly of Herbert Fenton.-Detective M'Grafch asked that a remand till Thursday be granted. He understood that Mr Solomon, who appeared for the boy, h*d no objection.— The accused was remanded accordingly, and liberated on the recognisances of his father in the sum of £10 Drunkenness.-Georgina Dalrymple waa fined 53, in default 24 houra' imprisonment; and a first offender was convicted anr, discharged. Prohibition Order.—A probibitiou order was granted against Thomas Dillon on ths ajsolication of his sen, the order to be in force in Duasdiu aad surrounding districts. Reckless Driving.—Alexander Lamb was charged with driving an express around a street corner on February I.—Defendant pletded not guilty.—Constable Hogan gave evidence that defendant drove round the corner of Prince 3 and Rattray streets at a fa*t trot. "Witness followed him to where he pulled up, and asked wby he hsd driven round the corner at that pace. He said that his reins had broken. There was a knni in the reins, but they had. evidently not been recently broken, if the reins were broken, moreover,-, he could not have guided the vehicle through the traffic. —Sergeant Gilbert also gave evidence.—Defendant deposed that just as he was going round the corner his reins broke, and when the policeman spoke ta him they were banging from thfl hor-e's head. —A man named Johnston, an express driver, gave evidence that %he saw the reins broken in Princes street.—The case was dismissed, defendant being warned he should have proper reins. j Mischievous Boys.—Two boys named Andrew ' and Charlss Hannigan were charged with disturbing a resident in George street by ringing I doer hells.—The lads pleaded not guilty.—Serj gcant O'Neill stated that complaints had reached j the police of the practice of boys ringing the bjll I at Dr Coaghtrey's house in George- street, and j then making off. _A constable was put on to . watch for the offendsrs, and caught the two boys. He saw the lads also knock at several other doors. ! Constable Worthington and Mrs Scott (houseI keeper at Dr Coughtrey's) also gave evidence. Tha latter said she did not. hear the bell on this occ3I sion, but she wa? constantly annoyed by boys ! pulling at tbo bell.—The father of the accused j stated that the boys were going along the street, and as boys have a habit of doing wera rubbing their h»nds against the wall as they passed along, but did not touch the bell.—The Bench found the case proved, but as the prosecutor desired that they shoubi Bot be punished they would be convicted and discharged.
