WEDDING AT HEATHFIELD.

The bride was afctired in* handsome pearl ! dnchesse satin gown with a. plain demi-trained I skirt, and -a- folded1 bodice tastefully trimmed j with chiffon and the usual orange blossoms. ■ | The.travelling costume consisted of a blue coat ; and skirt with a cream vest, in which she looked i particularly smart. The- bridesmaids were gowned with cream, relieved with" buttercup sashes. The bridegroom's present- to ths bride was a handsome diamond brooch,, and to the bridesmaids , handsome gold bangles set; with diamonds and rubies. The presents were very Humeroas and costly, and came from all parts of New Zealand. The bride's parents presented a pair of enlarged photos, of themselves, beautifully framed. The 1 Hon. Mr M'Kenzie's colleagues in the Ministry sent an .exceedingly handsome oak cabinet containing a complete set; of dining room cutlery of 100 pieces, and bearing the following inscription:—" Presented to Miss Mina M'Kenzie on tbe occasion, of her marriage, February 9, 1897, by her father's colleagues—: Hons. R. J. Seddon. A. J. Cadman. J. Carroll. W. C. Walker. T. Thompson, W. Hall-Jones." The members of tbe Otago Land Board sent a unique Queen Aune tea service in silver and also a nicer cake basket, baautifnlly engraved. Ths wedding caka was presented by Mr Pearson, of Palmerston, and was a very handiome one. The wedding breakfast was partaken of on .the lawn in a marquee which had been' erected for .the occasion. The following toaitt were proposed and duly honoured :—'^ The Bride and Bridegroom," proposed by the Hon. J. Carroll, responded to by the bridegroom ; " The Bridesmads," proposed by Mr Cunningham and' responded to by Mr Roll; "The Bride's Parents," proposed by Mr Arkle and responded to by the "Hon. John M'Kenzie: I "The Bridegroom's Mother," proposed by the ! Hon, Mr Walker and responded to by i Mr E. A. Atkinson; "The Ladies," pro-! posed by tba Hon. Mr Ward, and responded to by Mr Gilruth ; and *' Absent Friends," proposed by Mr Fleming, and responded to by Mr T. K. Macdonald. The happy couple left ia the afternoon for tbe south. The honeymoon is to be spent at the Lakes.
