THE APPEAL COURT.
(Per United Peess Association.) Wellington, October 13. The Couit of Appeal was occupiedto-day in hearing arguments in the matter of the appeal of tho Crown against th 3 docision of the' Chief Justico, who held that the Wellington City Council were entitled to erect a " cabman's shelter," as a building for the public convenience, on a piece of land near the Queen's wharf, deeded to the city by the Government. Decision was reserved.
Au order has been mado by the Chief Justice removing into the Court of Appeal, for argument at the present sittings, the special case between the Colonial Bank of New Zealand and tbe official liquidators of that institution and tho Bank of New Zealand. Tbo que-itiou involved is the right of the Bunk of New Zealand to acquire the reserve in its hands on account of the Colonial Bink ia payment of iuterc-So thftt may have accrued on acitonnts iv tbe "B" Hri. The caso is to be huard iv the Court of Appeal to-morrow. Mr Haggitt (of Dunediu) will appear on behalf of the Colonial Bauk, and Sir R Stout and Mr Cooper (of Auckland) tor the Bank of New Zealand.
