The defendant stated that it c took an honr to do each coat. This the plain- t tiff disputed, though' he admitted the rate of °' pay. To pirove his point he called g il a stylishly-dressed woman, who stated E c that she could do a coat easily in » a ■ c quarter of an honr. So the judge promptly pro- f 3 ceeded to set her to work. In 10 minutes she h»d only y , achieved two buttonholes, and these, too, is " a >' L shockingly bad manner" —a "remarkable coa- ? trast" to the careful woirk of the defendant. * The judge's comment o» this evidence for the t :" plaintiff was practical and to the point.
