Preti Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. Sydney, September 11.
In the Assembly Mr JUyna moved that the Chairman leave the chsir bucauee of the noapresentation. of the promised report of the Public Servica Commission. He indignantly urged that an injustice had been inflicted od the retrenched civil servants in the absence of iutormation, and characterised the proceedings of the commissioners as hole-and-corner work. The Premier, Mr Raid, warmly replied. As soon as tbs board had dealt with the appeals their report would be presented, aud when that time camo members would perhsp3 find ' that tha report gava motet information than they bargained for. The board had carried out a great work admirably, and saved nearly L 300.000 per anncin. Mauy worthless officers had been got rid of. In no ls?s than 17 ca»e3 the board ascertained that the dismissed offiuors had pilfered the State's funds. Other incompetents were kept in their places through influential friends. The days of the old regime of political patronage bad gone, and ie would be well for the civil servants to remember that;. The motion 7ras negatived by 53 to 27.
