DIRECT MAIL SERVICE The direct steamer lonic will leave Wellington for Plymouth, via Rio do Janeiro, on Thursday, 17th September. Mails close here as under: — For United Kingdom and foreign countries, &&", at 10 a.m. Money orders at 9.15 a. in., books and newspapers at 9 a.m.; registered letters at 5 p.m. on the 14th. , > Late letters, bearing an additional single rate of postage (2Jd) as a late fee, can be posted in the 1 mail van attached 1o the North express, having Dunedin railway station at 11 a.m. on the 15th. The above mail will close at the branch Post Offices, North Dunedin aud South Dunedin—for money orders and registered letters at 5 p m. on the 14th; letters at 9.30 a.m. and newspapers at 5 a.m. on the 15th. At the Port Chalmers office at 8.45 a.m. on the 15th ; money orders at 4 p.m., and reeistered letters a.t 5 p.m. on the 14th. Parcels mails for the United Kingdom, &c. will Close at 9.30 a.m. .
