Tho secretary of ths Ot&go Football Association informs us that he has received information to the effect that both the 'Auckland and Wellington representative teams will leave Wellington to-night by the Tarawera for Dunadiu, arriving here about midday on Mouda***. The following critique of the Wellington teem will.prove of interest: —
Goal keeper, Smith (Swifts).—A player of experience; has saved ids club many a time always cool, aud a bit of a " snag" to run into.
Might back, W. Auld (Rovers).--A gt'eat kick clear* well, and possesses plenty of dash.
Left back, J. Hailwood" (Thistle).—A splendid kick;, plays with great dash; clever with his head, ... ,
Centre,, half, '.Pettigrew* ..(Thistle).— Usually plays at back for his club; is a sound kick, and always" cool.
Right half.'Hawthorne (Thcriidou).--Learnt to play the game at Thorndou School. Only his second year as a senior player; plenty of dash ; kicks and tackles well, but is inclined so bs rash tit times.
Left half, Godber (Tborndon).—Like Hawthorne, is a young player.; his usual place i3 back; a neat kick and always cool. Centre forward, lla'ihvood (Thistle).—A real veteran at the game *, very dodgy ; dangerous near goal. His fifth time to represent Wellington. . . -
Outside right, Fraser- (Hovers) —Captaiu of the team. Very good forward ; tricky, and feeds the centre well.
Inside right, [Jno' Macdonald (Swifts).—-An old Otago representative. A. real grafter, but ia inclined to get out of his place ; has scored veryheavily in clob matches this season.
Outside left, Pltnderl-jith (Queen's Park).— Very fast; centres well; inclined to overruo the ball. - .
luside left, Thomas.—Probably the clev«rest forward in the team. In splendid "nick" just now, aud has a thorough knowledge of the game.
The team, taking it all through, is considered very good. .
