APPOINTMENTS OF TEACHERS. TO THE EDITOR.

Sie,—As one of the wbite-haired bojs 1 would like to ask "Justitia" one or two questions. Does he think because he is teaching in a town school that he is, therefore, r. better teacher' thau very many of the country 'teachers ? Are we not under the same board, and, therefore, eligible to r.uy appointment for which oar classification entitles us? Ido not say he was or is not eligible, but you see the other person was preferable. What iu justice has been done by the appointment of the gentleman who has been chosen to fill the vacancy i I was going to add one or two more ; but I feel rather timid when 1 think I am dealing with such a person aa "Justitia," who can floor the board, Government, school committees in genera!, and North-East Valley committee in particular. ' Now, my dear " Justitia," u you envy us our princely pickings of £H3 to £188, I say come into the country and have & auare ; but I must be candid with you and tell you that you will have to work much hard«.r in a country school than you do in your town school. You see I am not selfish, and I can answer for my brother tsacheri that, although you in&y be a very superior "-erson, nevertheless we shall waive all that, and even overlook your conceit and give you a hearty welcome amongst the white-hairea set. ... In conclusion I will tell you something you will enjoy as a huge joke. You will Hud amongst us (1) teaching skill, (2) literary attainments, (3" length of service, (4-) individuality. ' Should you take ifc iuto your head that you are a teacher of ability and leave the board s service, I have not the slightest doubt that a " white-haired " boy will be found to worthily fill your place.—l am, &3., September 1.
