NATIONAL ASSOCIATION.
An adjourned meeting of the Ot&go section of the National Association of New Zealand was held in the Chamber of Comnrercs on Tues« day night. Mr 0. Haynen occupied the chair, and there were about 100 members present. The following were elected a council of management, the voting being m the order .named :— Messrs A. Sligo, T. Fergus, G. L. Denniaton', D. Roid Jan., J. Allen, T. K. Ksrty, W. Brown, J, A Park, C. Haynes, Crosby Moiris, J. R. Thornton, H. M. Henderson, T. Scott, J. Hazleti;, G. M. Srapsou, John Duthie, H. B. Shacklock, John Davie, J. A. Stewart, and W. EeriderEoa. It was decided that appointments of presided and vice-presidents be hit to the council in terms of the constitution. The appointment of secretary was also "left io the council. Messra E. 0. Reynolds and A. S. Skonach were appointed auditors, and Mr^ B. F. Duthis treasurer.
A full meeting of the council of tha Otego section of tha National Association of : Nei* Zealand was held on the 10th inst., at which Mr Alexander Sligo was unanimously appointed president, and Mr T. Scctt (mayor of Mornicgton) and H. E. Shaoklock vice-presidents. The appointment of secretary was left to tha consideration of a sub-coramittea appointed for that'purpose, to report to a farther meeting of the council.
Mr T. K. Harfcy consented to continue th« uocretpryship till a permanent appointment was mads.
Ths President (Mr Sligo) and Mr C. Haynes ware appointed rs delegates to represent the Ofcago BectioQ at (he forthcoming conference at Wellington. It was unanimously resolved that women be enrolled and welcomed as members of tha association.
It was unanimously and enthusiastically resolved that the following motion be minuted— "That the council desires to place on record its high appreciation of the services rendered to the association by Mr T. K. Harty while acting as secretary and treasurer to the Provisional Committee for some months past, and consider' his zeal, energy, and ability in the enrolment of members, in the organisation of tbe association, and in the performance of the various arduous duties which have devolved on him, to be worthy of, the highest commeßdatioa aud approval.
