At the League of Wheelmen's Carnival yesterday the attendance numbered 14-.000. The weather was dull. SeTeral spills occurred daring the day, Peareou sustaining a slight concussion of the brain, and M'lnnes being badly bruised. The principal results were: —
iNTKItNATIONAL SCRATCH MlLE.—Megson (New South Wales) l t Mtu-tin (America) 2, Lewis and Payne a dead heat 3. On entering the home stretch the American was leading, but Megson came with a desperate spurt, and won by two longths. Time. 2min 27soc. Australian Cop. Two miles.—T. P. Johnson (New South Wales), ltiOyds, 1; W. W. HaaUins (New South Wales), 120 yds, 2; Ohajmian, 120 yds, S. Won by 10 yards. Pithev (New Zealand) and Payne (N«w South Wales), who were both on the lGyds mark, in the second heat had a great set-to, Pitber winning by half a wheel, but he was outhandicapped in the final.
Fikst-ciass Handicap.—Mortin 1, Parsons 2, Megnua 3. Patsone led into the straight, but the American won on the post, after a wonderful spuit. Pitiier and Body (New Zealand) also started. Time, 4mia 33Jsea - Second-class Scbaxch Race. — Haskins 1, Pbelan 2, Williams 3. Won by half a wheel. Time, 2min 32eeo.
Six hents of tbe Federal Bt»ke3 were contested. In the third heat Pore-eras and Megson, both on scratch, had to be content with third and fonrtJi places respectively, being bdftten by the 10yds men. Pithsc was second in his heat, which Martin won. :
