Small cataloguss and very 6trong competition were the featursß of the fortnightly wool sales, considerable qnantiliea being sold privately, and several lines withdrawn in expectancy of higher prices. The bulk offering at the sales was of medium and inferior qualities. As compared with a fortnight ago values, especially for scoureds, showed a further slight advance, and full parity with London advances were raadily forthctimicg hsre. The exporta o£ wool for eight months ended Febrnary shows a decrease o£ 141,700 bale 3 compared with the same period last year. So far March has proved a dull month in the import market, but the week closes with a little more life. Kxport orders continue numerous, New Zealand taking a good deal of business. Breadstuffs nre quiet. Local milling vrhoat is nominally Is sd; New Zealand is unaltered, and io quoted at 3s lOd to 4s. Sellers are offering more frealy, but buyers are holding off somewhat in expectation of lower prices when larger shipments arrive. The recent rains greatly improved the crop outlook. With increased Stocks, faed produca lines are easier. Maiza (with large supplios) declined 3d. Butter is weak; other dairy lines steady. The potato stocks are lower, and firm. Now Zealand onions are in good demand at L7 to L 7 ss.
