At a meeting of the executive of the cricket team it was resolved to offer Harry £75 as compensation, and inform him that this is the utmost limit to which the exeoutiva are prepared to go. A definite answer is to ba given to-d»y. The meeting also decided in favour of taking Johns, Kelly, and Hill.
Harry ha* conjuUed tfwo leading barrisfers, who advise that he has undoubted claims aud a case. They advised him, however, to compromise, aa it would bn unpleasant to travel with a hostile team.
Mr Musgrove, the manager, being interviewed, stilted that the changes were the outoome of the opinion held by the majority of playais that the team as at first composed was not strong enough to meet the English teams Johns'* exhibition of previously unknown battiDg powers led to hia final inclusion after it had been decided to exclude hi;:.. He (Mr Musgrove) would not 8»y that Harry was not good enough to take, bat there was a chance of his brenking downj and the team one and all were doubtful as to the soundness of his Imee^ The Cricket Council were not taking any risk and not finding any money. The te&m were taking all the risk, and it,was natural they should want to s»e only the best men go. Mr Mnsgrove feels sure that the council will see it would have been madness to take a dissatisfied team.
