Either boil all drinking water for half an hour or filter all such water through a Jeffery Filter— the ordinary Filters are powerless against germs so small as the Typhoid Germ,—taking care to clean the filter once a week at least. (Extract from Lecture delivered by Professor of Hygiene, Melbourne University.) -. I have tested "Jeffery's Filter" and found that it is the best I have ever used. It removes the suspended Mineral and Organic Matter from the Water Most Thoroughly; is easily kept in order and cleaned—an important point,, as many filtering mediums become blocked with decomposable matter and the last state of the water, passing through is worse than the first.
