THE HOROWHENUA COMMISSION.

Before the Horowhonua Commission Major Kemp's examination was finished this morning, and hia cross-examination postponed till his return from P&rihaka, for which place he and hia people sro leaving to-day to attend a meeting re Maori federation. Mr Stevens, M.H.R., appears on behalf of Warena Hunis, whose examination is now proceeding. Mr Heke, M.H.R., asked ths commissioners if they can consider the claim of Hene To Whatanui, who based his claim on the gift of the conqueror of the territory. After lunch the commissioners announced that they could not entertain Heke's application, a« the claim was disposed of by the Native Land Court judgment in 1873.
