The whole of the river between Clyde and Alexandia has of late years been taken up for dredging claims, aud it ,is' known that in almost ev-iry instance rich returns are being secured. ' The claim is the first natural basin of made ground below the Cromwell Gorge, and owing to ihe gorge and the configuration of the country, the river must have always flowed over the claim, and the vast deposits of " Molyneux gold " on the ; Dunstan Hat and right down'past the Island Block must have passed over tie claim. ' As tbe current of tbe river is impeded by a line of rocks which cross the river at the lower end of tbe claim, a large quantity of gold must necessarily have been left with the gravel and other deposits, and there cannot be a risk of the' river haying run in another course at the time it was bearing auriferous deposits. ■ ■'''>:' v That gold does exist in large quantities within tbearea of tbis claim has been frequently proved by the returns obtained by cradling whenever the river is low. Special attention is directed to the fact that the Vendors" shares receive no dividends until the subscribing shareholders have been, recouped the amount of their outlay. The Vendors' agreement is dated the Sixth day of February 1890, and is made between Septimus Edward Brent, Joseph Cox, and Robert Stewart/ of the one part, and Bdmund Robinson Smith, on behalf of the Company, of the other part. ■/This agreement may be seen at the Brokers' office.
