TRADES AND LABOUR.

Wellington, February 20.
At a meeting of the Wellington Trades and Labour Council to-night a letter was received from the Canterbury Council with reference to tbe annual report of the Department of Labour. It was decided thst the increase of hours of work for women from 44 to 48 hours psr week under the new Factories Act be referred to the Trades Council Conference. Tho council was of opinion that the reduction of the feo for registration of smaller factories to a nominal sum would not be conducive to sweating.
