The position is that under the regulations of tbe Gaming Aot the metropolitan body allotted Masterton one meeting, and they raced on Boxing Day; therefore, under the rules of racing, all parties taking part in the St. Patrick's Day meeting will become disqualified if the totalioator is nised. The Otaki Club, who were allowed two meetiugo, were refused a license for tho totclisator' for the second meeting, and a deputation has been in town interviewing the Premier on the mutter. No definite decision wa? given, but the Premier suggested that if one meeting in South Wairarapa were withdrawn Otaki would bn granted a license. ; . • Tha annual tournament of the Otago Lawn Tennis Association will be commenced this morning on the Otago Club's courts, Cumberland etreeb. H'>st of the oountry competitors lisve arrived, and their presence in sach numbers will, no doubt, add gieatly to the interest of the toaimament. Play commences at 9.30. Moßt of the events, it is exoected, will be ketnly contested.
