CUSTOMS REVENUE.
A comparative return of the customs revenue for the years lS9tand 1835 shows £1,619,970 for 1895 and £1,572,4H7 for 1894. making an increase of £47,503 ■■ for 1595. Auckland contributes an increase of and Wellington an increase of ;£1i,3;7, whlla Dunodin and Lyttelton show decreases of £2K\ and £850 respectively. The following comparison 01 the amounts raised under each head for 1895 and 1894 ia given by the "Trade Review" :—
"WE3TPORT CARDIFF COAL COMPANY.
The directors in their annual report for the year ending 31st December congratulate sharaholders ou the satisfactory results of the yenr"B operations. The profit and loss account e]»ows a credit balance of £2007 3s 2d, to which must be added the sum of £352 1!)« Si brought forward, making a total of £23(30 2s lOd. The directors recommend that the sum of £2000 be appropriated to meet necessary expenditure incurred, and to be incurred for permanent works, plant, and development of the mine in order to deal with an increasing output, and that the balance be carried forward to next ytjar. This will obviate the necessity of making calls for the purpose named.
