Messrs Wright, Stepiiensox, and Co. report as follows :~
The sale of a draft of 10 of ths moat-faahionably-nred Amoricin trottin;; horsee, two, three, and four-year-olds, from the far-famed Bayswatar stud of Mr J. J. Miller, of Victoria, attracted buyers from all parts of Canterbury, Otago, and Southland ; but Uku:g into account the enormous expense Mr Miller hsa been to in acquiring the progenitors of the stock offered-the animals sub-
mitted represented tho very best strain* of the standard American trotting blood obtainable— the result was.very disappointing to Mr Miller, and hs could not make up his mind to nart with more than two of the consißnmcnt uuder the I hammer. The two-year-olds being small for their I age, according to local ideas, were not competed I for at all wt-U, buyers apparently expecting to get thorn for a "more song." Mr Millar, in consequence withdrew the youngsters, with the intenj tionof putting them and the resc of the consignment, togttther with all the paraphernalia of a trotting establishment, including snlkiod, Ac., up for sale again on Monday, after the public has had an opportunity of witnw.siiiK the perfurmance6 of Honest Wilkes and Gentle Zepbyr at to-morrow's ; race meeting. The two animals sold today were j East Wind, by Red Wiud (imp.), to Mr Samuel I Mcroer at 44gs, and Whirlwind, by Scl V/ind (hup.), to Meiers Todd Bros, for 46ss. In addiI tioa to these two Ealrs we iUso sold the wellj known racehorse Cajiet to Mr K. Curtis, jun., at 151E8, and for Mr George Nichol (of AbboUford station), one splendid upstanding hack, lit for either cavalry work or a dog cart, at £2T.
