The steamer Indiana, outward bound, collided with the American ship' Alameda, from Paget Sound. The latter was cat down to th. water's edge, and was only saved from sinking by her cargo of timber. The steamer had ber stern wrecked, and bas returned for repairs.

The ketch G.H.V., trading between Launcestcn and north-west porr,i, capsized off Long Island on Saturday night, and aU the occupants were drownod. Those onboard were three of a crew and fear passengers, named Mrs Ferguson, Pauline Garrett, James Milligan, and A.'Newitt.
