A meeting of the General Committee of tho Unemployed Relief Works Association wai held yesterday afternooD, and attended by Messrs Mitchell (chairman), Kempthorrie, Rara»' »»yi Ohigholm, Glendining,, Batbgate, a^t' u e hon. secretary. -'■ _ L/ ■ Mr CrasnoLM, chairman ;6f tiuS-^orkß Committee, read the minutes of meetings held daribg the past week, and roported that it .had been resolved that as the work cannot last more thau a few wenka the Selection Committee be recommended to select a number of men to' be paid-otr on Friday next.—This action waacon-' firmed, and the secretary instructed to advise the public preas to that effect. 'I ho Works Committee further regretted having to report that a number of lately, planted shrubs had been pulled up and destroyed during the past week.—After discussion,; the hon. secretary was instructed' to write to the Mayor and City Council drawing attention to the damage done, and asking them to offer a substantial roward for the discovery of the offenders. :
