Our Auckland correspondent telegraphs that at a meeting of the Eight Hours' Demonstration Committee there were present representatives of the Liberal Association aud Employers" Association. The delegates oE the Typo graphical Society objected to the presence of representatives of politic il associations, as the matter was not one of politics, and they'accordingly withdrew from active part in the pro^ ceedings, uuder instructions. The Rev. Shirley Baker, of the Liberal Association, was ultimately elected chairman of the committee.
