Sib,—l and many others in the city have been waiting to see what the press were going to do or say in connection with the above case but so far no reference has been made to it' much to'our surprise. When an unjust act has been done to a citizen the press hithevto have at once drawn attention to ifc. Several letters have appeared in the press of the city, all leading to the opinion, and the opinion of most of our right-thinking citizens, that Constable) Davis has been made to suffer unjustly. The witnesses cocld not give accurate evidence Not one of thorn agreed as to what the constable really did. I take leave to say th&t even now if the woman who was so severely kicked was examined not a mark would be found on her Anyway it would be satisfactory to have her examined, for if she was so kicked the marks would be sti'l on her. The sadden and i m proper mauner in which the constable w»s attacked naturally made Sam, as it would any orje, quickly raise the kuee and cause the hJf drunken woman to fall.
