CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.
A meeting of the committee of the Dunedin Chamber of Commerce Was held on Friday last, at which Messrs A. C. Begg (president), J. T. Mackerras, W. Gow, K. Kamsay, P. R. Sargood, A. BSichie, and J. M. GBlla,w ß y were present. An apology was received for the absence of Mr T. R. Fisher. A letter was read from tho Premier acknowledging receipt of the committee's letter pomtirg^out anomalies ,in the act, and stating that ks the other chambers bad received copies or the same, he would await receipt of their opinions, and then give the matter the fullest consideration.
A letter was read .also from the Colonial ireaßurer, fctatug that ' the rn&tter would receive consideration. ''-
aud telegrams were received from the trisborne and Nspier.V Chambers expressing approval of the chamber's letter respecting this matter, and statiug they had forwarded thosame to the Colonial Treasurer. BOOK DEBTS AND DISTRICT COURT JUDGES. A letter waa received from th* Hon. the Minister for Justice acknowledging receipt of resolutions pasaed by; the chamber ou the<e matters, and stating they would receive atteaCIOU. - 'r'-: .

RKPQKT AND BALANCE SHEET. Ihe Secretary read the draft of the proposed annual report and balance sheet, which was adopted, and it was resolved to hold the annual meeting on Friday, 26th inst., at 3 p.m.
