A meeting of the General Committee-.of the Relief Works Association was held yesterday afternoon and attended by Messrs J. Mitchell (ohairmsin), T. W. Kempthorne, K. Chisholm, C. Haynea, A. Bathgafce, X: Ramsay, T. BrowD, A. Burt, and G. P. Farquhar (hon. secretary.) ,

A report from the Works Committee (submitted through Mr Chisholm) of the proceedings daring the past week was approved, and it was L .then resolved—"That in view of the very large and increasing number of applicants for work, and after six weeks' experience under as careful observation aa_ circumstances permitted of; the work bi:"?8 carried on, Ib is found necessary with the object of. making the funds benefit aa many aa possible to classify the men 'into three driferent grades, the wages payable to be 4s, 3-s M, and 2b 6d per day, resoectively, sccording to cjMßification. The above to take effect from baturday next for those now employed and apply to aU frwh engagements from the date they start work." >
