DRAWING ROOM ENTERTAINMENT.
The funds of the First Church Young Women's GirildL «hoald bs materially-benefited by the entertainment which was givea on its behalf at the Choral Hell lsetevening. Mr Keith Ramesy ccenpied the chair, and the building was crowded to the very doors. The entertainment practically comprised a lecture delivered by the Rot. T. Tait (of Albert Park, Melbourne), who is at present in charge of Firet Chnroh in the abrenca of Mr Gibb. The leciure, which was interspersed with musical items, was delivered with c. freedom aod ease and a freshness of style which stamped Mr Tait not only as a skilled orator, but as oae possessed of most of thoee qualifications that go to make a successful entertainer. Ke is a keen observer of hnman life in all its phases, and he affords striking testimony of how delusive is the popnlar idea that there is no humour in a Scotchman. His powers of mimicry are exceptionally great, while nfc times he displayed much dramatic ability. His lecture last evening was entitled an " Evening in Society," and was hstsne-d to with the greatest pleasure • It would be impossible in a brief space to give an adequate idea of it, but suffica it to say tost it was most entertaining. ' Musical selections wera rendered by Miss Trescder, Messrs Borne and Christie.
