It is reported tbat the police are backward in pursuing the assassins. M. Stambouloff is in a comatose staite, ana his condition is regarded as hopeless Ministers assert that he was the victim to his own imprudence in refusing special protection. .
■~ _-, London, July 17. M. Stambouloff was deprived of one eve ana bad 15 ghastly wonnds inflicted on his head by fche knives of ths attempted assassins. He was only just recovering from an attack of diabetes, and this ailment, it is feared, will prevent his rallying. It i s supposed that th« driver of his coach slowed down ia order to allow the assault, and that be was in league with tha perpetrators of the*orime r Several further arrests bave been made. M. SfarnbonloS's heart action has been stimulated by means* of injections. The Government had previously refused to allow the es-Premief to return td Bulgaria, as it has long been feared that an attempt wonld be made to assassinate him.
