The Marquis of Queensberry and hia two sons, Lord Alfred Douglas and Lord Donglaa of Hawiek, wore all present at the close of the trial of Wilde and Taylor. ENTERTAINED BY ROYALTIES. The second son o£ the Ameer o£ Afghanistan, who is at present On a visit to England, is to be lavishly entertained by Royalties. In company with the Prince of Wales and Duke of Cambridge, he was present at the ceremony of troopiug the colours, and expressed himsolf surprised and delighted at what he had sesn. He was afterwards introduced to the Princess of Walea, Duchess of York, and Duke of Saxe-Cobarg. THE FUTURE OF CHITRAL. The Bombay correspoHdent of the Times referring to the recent attacks on the British outposts,, says that if the British evacuate Chitral the tribes, fearing the transfer of the country to Afghanistan, will be certain to appeal to Russia for protection and assistance. The ■ Amßer of Afghanistan* upbraided TJmva Khan for the recent revolt in Chitral, but promised to extend to him his hospitality. . , A COLLISION. The steamer Khio collided in the Channel with the steamer Duke of Bac&inghara, from ' Queensland to London. The latter vessel j sustained damage to her insulating chamber, but the (iaplsin does not' think her meat j cargo has been injured. J A FIGHT. WITH BANDITS. I Paris, May 27. I Particulars have been received of brisk fighting between the French and a company of b.iudits oa the frontier of French Guinea and Brazil. It appeara Lunair, captaia of a compauy of French marines, demanded under a flag of truce the release of the Frenchmen who had been taken prisoners by ths bandits. While the negotiations were in progress the bandit chief shot Lunair • dead, aad his followers simultaneously fired on the marines. Severe fighting ensued, lasting for two hoars, and ended in the complete defeat of the outlaws. The Frenchmen had five marines killed and 20 wounded, while bao bandits lost 60 of their number, besides having a large number wounded. The French afterwards burnt their village. ITALIAN ELECTIONS. Rome, May 27. The elections are proceading quietly. Signor Crispi has been elected for Roma. It is.expected tbe Ministry will have a large majority. Signor Crispi's followers have already aacured 300 seats. THE..'CURRENCY.' QUESTION. New York, May 27.
