AMUSEVENTS.

"THE HEI&AT-LAW." The Koacius Dramatic Club reproduced "The Heir-at-Liw" at the City Hall last evening in aid of the Diis3ing a^berruen's fund. Although the attendance was fairly large, there would have been without doubt a much larger audience had it not been for the bitterly cold and showery weather which prevailed. The comedy was no\xa through with even mora success than on the previous occasion upon which it was produced, notwithstanding the fact that the space afforded by the City Hal) stage was somewhat restarted, and therefore calculated to prove embarrassing to amateur performers. The principal parts wore taken by -Messrs E. Joul, J. Thomson, W FitzPatrick, Misses Jean Burns/ Lily -Joel, »nd Frances Vause, all of whom met with a favour- ! able reception, and their efforts were recognised ! by liberal and frequent applause throughout the eventug. The general staging'of the comedy was likewise on a satisfactory Bcale.and such deserves a word of praise A feature of the evening was the singing of the Ihrae fishors ' by Madame Vehosta, who ren- ' dered the solo with such artistic taste and feelin" that a persistent demand for an encore was made 1 which was only satisfied when she reappeared and I repeatea the last verse. The orchestra; which was specially organised by Mr A. F. Eafeertshaw and led brMr.E Parker, also contributed some i acceptable music. j : PRINCESS,.THEATRE.'' Considering the unnropitious state of tha elements,: there was a satisfactory attendance at the theatre last evening, when the Lucas-Kennedy Ooinpauy revived the tearful play " ISast Lynne " lne piece was. staged with completeness, and ita production appeared to meet with the full approval of all present. The box plan is open at the Dresden, and intending patrons should secure their seats early in the day. THE NEW TIVOLI COMPANY. The second Tivoli Company open in the City Hall this, evening. The members of the company were .specially engaged by Mr Patey in Melbourne and Sydney, and each and all are highly spoken of by the Australian press, johnny Collins is an Infill comedian, Evelyn Harte a serio - comic artiste, Karl Browne a Dutch comedian and dancer, May Malvino a serio-comic and specialty artiste, James Stapleton aclsver dancer and negro comedian, Misa Christine Tennyson a skirt and serpantine dancer, Bert La Sells a boy comique. J. Hamilton a comedian and singer, and P. Miller is described as a musical king. In addition Beaumont's marionettes will be exhibited.
