The following letter from the Secretary of She Education departou nt was read : — I have the honour, by ilirection of the Minister for Education, to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 23rd April, and in reply to say that the cords "if■ possible" in the first regulation relating to inspection may be takou to suggest that where economy requires it the inspection may take place at the same visit as the examination. There can be no doubt, however, that in email schools the inspector's advice may be of very great service to the teacher, and that therisis very. little time for it on examination days With respect to the second resolution, the Minister is of opinion that changes that have been made of late years have removed most of the objections that couW be alleged against the individual pass system, and that he is not prepared for the radical change proposed by your board. The letter was received. MISCKI.L4NEOUS. The ooard recaived the quarterly report of the Rector of the Boys' High School on the board's scholars, and rer.olved to intimate to one echolsr that if his next report was not much more satisfactory hid scholarship would be withdrawn, and that the attention of another Bchoiar be directed to his report. !
