Store Cattle.—The business done in these at the moment is not very extensive. At the same time there are buyers for all offering. Store Sheep.—There is cm alteration to note in the tone of the market. A moderately fair demand exists, and prices lately ruling are being fully maintained. Country Sales.—Donald Rtsid and Co. report as follows :—On i-riday wu held a sale of stock at our yards at Hyde, when we submitted an entry of close on 4000 sheep of ail kiods. We held a clearing sale on account of Mr Marshall, at his farm-, Bentaaken, ori Thursday, the 9ch inst., when we submitted for unreserved sale the whole of his carefully selected and superior stock of cattle, horses, sheep, pigs, &c. The morning, unfortunately, proved wet and di-agreeable, which bad an injurious effect on the appearance of the stock, and to some extent militated against the sale. Notwithstanding the disagreeable weather, the widely knowa and favourable reputation of the stock attracted a large gathering, and Mr Marshall's many personal friends turned out in force to show their good feeling and appreciation of his many good qualities, and to testify to his deserved popularity; and when bidding commenced it became quite apparent that the dull and wet morning had no depressing effect on the spirits of the buyers. Bids csme quick and strong, and bidding tnroughout. the sale continued exceedingly brisk, resulting in one of the bent sales we have had this season, cattle, horses, sheep, pigs, and implements all quickly changing hands at very full rate CattleDairy cows sold at £7 17a Ixl to £5: heifers, £6 10s to j£3 5s ; steers, £i 12s Gd • yearlings, £1 15s; calves, 20s to 16s. The principal entry was sheep, and these being all young and in fair condition, had a fair saia ; and all except a small line of lambs were sold at pries much in keeping with those ruling latsly for the 1 same class. The entry of cattle and horses were small, but all tbe former were sold. Sheep : 554 penned. Crossbred wethers (two-tooth), fe; crossbred ewes (two and four-tooth), 6* Gd' eroesbred lambs ss. Wool.—The sales in London seem to be progressing steadily, and the change, if any, slightly more in favour of sellers. Press Association telegrams to hand at the beginning of the week report that on the 10th inst. Continental buyers were the chief operators, and that prices were irregular, though on the following day bidding was spirited and prices very firm. Medium greasy recovered id per lb on the opening decline. Foreign houses, especially Russian, are making heavypurchases." There is no business of any consequence being done in the, local market beyond the usual odds and ends being catalogued on skin sale days. Sheepskins.—The market for these remains comparatively steady. The usual demand is experienced, :->nl : v ll brought underthe hammer are, aa a rule, well competed for, more especially medium-to full-woolled skina, but short-woolled and inferior bare pelts are almost neglected. Green crossbred skins are in very, fair demand and improving in value with the increased growth of wool; On Tuesday goofj catalogues were presented for the wre&ly auction sale, when we had the usual attendance of buyers, who competed spiritedly for best sorts up to prices lately obtaining; but owing, doubtless, to the somewhat indifferent tone* of the wool market at Home there was no improvement in values. Late t-aved skins have the preference and gradually irupMvivg in price, this ■week's offerings topping last weeX-'s by Jd to Jd per lb.. Cablegrams to hand during the piist week* are not quite so .favourable; quorationa.of the previous week how.'beiiig maintained: The local market contitiues very firm, but most of the buyers being now pretty fully supplied for a time, no further advance of much consequence is likely to be secured—m'eatitime, at any rate.
