Auckland, May IS; j Mr Kaye (of the firm of Kaye and Carter, of i Christchurch) and Mrs-Kaye, who came from the oouth1 to attend the wedding or Mias M'Corquodale, had a startling experieape laßt night. They drove down in a cab to catch the 30 minutes past 10 p.m. ferry. The cab palled ! up just outside the waiting room on the tee. Mrs Kaye alighted and walked over the" vrbarf into the water. Her husband immediately sprang to her assistance, but as he was unable to swim the driver of thfe cab (Wilt>y) went overboard to the assistance of Mrs Kaye, and kept her afloat until a boat was launched from the ferry steamer and picked both up. In the meantime the byatandera had thrown a lifebuoy to Mr Kaye, whichhe secured. He was also picked up by the boat, and both were landed on board the ferry steamar little the worse for their immersion. It was very dirk and raicing at the time. The accident occurred through the lady thinking she was on tho main ferry tee. , Great credit is due to Wiley for the plucky manner in which he went to the rescue; of Mrs Kaye.
