CITY POLICE COURT.
Tuesday, Mat 14. (Before Messrs A. Solomon and L-Selby, J.Fs.) Drunkenness. — Annie Filet, alias Margaret Jackson, who pleaded guilty, was fined 10s, in default 48 hours' imprisonment.—The fine was pa<d forthwith.. House of 111-repute.—Ah Y_m, alias Ah Yum, pleaded guilty to'&-cha_ge of being, on the Ist inst., the occupier of a house in Staffordstreet which was frequented by. persons who bad no lawful visibie.means of support.—Chief Detective O'Connor stated that accused kept a brothel, and people haviDg no lawful means of support lived there. Accused had been summoned to appear some day_ ago, bnt as he did not a warrant was issued, and he was arrested .on Monday night by Plain-clothes Constable Brobcrg.'— The* .Bench desiring to hear some evidence, Plain-clothes Constable Cooney deposed that he ahd Constable Broberg visited the house about H o'clock on the night of the 28th of last month. There were two prostitutes in the house. One was lying down asleep, with an opium pipa on each side of her, and the other girl said she was suffering from smoking opium. The constable also recounted visits on the 29th April and Ist May, and mentioned that there had been many complaints made about this man's house.—He was sentenced to three months' imprisonment, withiard labour. -.
