I The usual fortnightly meeting of Unity Lodge, No. IG, 1.0,0-F., was held at the Oddfellows' , Hall, Cargill road, South Dunedin, on Monday I night. There was a large muster ,of both members and visitors, the following lodges being represented—viz:, Wallace, Pioneer of Southland, Pioneer of Dunedin, Linden, Linda Rebe.kah. and Leith. Noble Grand Bro. John H. Hinton presided. The .usual loiitine business being disposed of, a presentation Ivas made to P.G. Bro. Charles Boelke, who has performed the duties of treasurer for 18 years. It consisted of a beautifully-framed photographic group of the past and present officers of the lodga, inscribed as follows _---•"' Presented to Past Grand Bro. Charles Boelke/hy the officers and members of Unity Lodge, No:--16,1.O.O.F., as a token of appreciation of his long and faithful services as treasurer.—South Dunedin,, 13th May 1895. The N.G. Bro. Hinton, in making the presentation, said his duty, was a pleasing one. Bro. Boelke had heH office as treasurer for nearly 18 years, and the lodge had thought it desirable to present their respected brother with some tangible token of its.appreciation' of hiß valuable services. They were all familiar with the treasurer's genial countenance, for until his present illness there was no more regular attendant. His untiring energy, his never-f__ilin<» good humour, and his constant efforts for tbe pro°motion and preservation of harmony in the lodge wouldlongbe remembered by them all. Bro. Boelke was one of the first members of Unity Lodge. Nearly 20 years ago he was N.G., and smce'then he had resolutely stood by the lodge in 311 its troubles, and it was a source of •-'great gratification to him to see the rapid strides it had made towards prosperity. Turning to the treasurer the N.G. said: Bro. Boelke. it is with f-ielihgs of pride and pleasure that I now present you with this handsome picture, and may you long be spared to enjoy this mark of esteem on the part of your brethren of Unity Lodge. ■'. I Bro. Boelke, in an excellent speech, tSjknked the officers and members for tho'handsom*ft.resentation, and stated that he would do all in his power to advance the interests of his lodge in the future as he had endeavoured in the past. It was very gratifying to him as one of the pioneer members of the lodge to witness tho progress made, both financially and numerically, during the past three ye?.rs. He urged the younger members to qoni tinue to advance the interests of Ocldfellowship in them district. P.G.M. Bro. Cole, D.D.G.M. Bro. Lindsay, G.S. Bro. Reid, G.T. Bro. Alexander (Grand Lodsre representatives, Otago district), Bros. D. M. Miller and F. A. Hancock, Bro. Dr R. P. Fulton, and several others, congratulated the r.cipient.-and spoke in high terms of the respect in which he.was held throughout the district. Harmony was indulged in during the interval, several selections being nicely rendered by ihe brethren. On Bro. Boslke retiring the members rose and sang " For he's a jolly good fellow " The photography, which was universally admired, was the work of Mr H. J.
