A man named George Hodaon, aged about 80, huug himself from the branch of an apple tree, in the garden of a houso where he resides this morning. He w«s in a weak state of health, and under the doctor's ciro for some time.

A few days after the Tainui ltf t Capetown a steeraga passenger named George Sutherland, booked for Dunedin, attempted to cut his throat with a razor while ia a ctate of temporary insanity, but was prevented from inflicting' serious injuries.
