ARRIVAL OF THE TONGARIRO.
The Now Zealand Shipping Company's fine steamship Tongariro, from London via northern ports, arrived at the George street wharf, Port Chalmera, yesterday afternoon. The Tongariro comes here in her usual fine order, and is still commanded by Captain Mayoss. who has with him the following staff :— Chief officer, Mr J.-W. Crnuchcr; second officer, Mr J. Giles; Mr A. H. Fisk is auxiliary second officer, and Mr V. A. Worsley third : Mr .T. Denniston is surgeon in charge ; Mr K. Wildish is chief engineer, and the old chief steward fitill retains his position. The Tongariro come 3 into, port (as every vessel with which Captain Moyoss has been in touch) in very nice order, she will land about 150 tons of cargo here, and then take in a ■quantity of New Zealand produce for London. The Tongariro left London at coon of January 10th, proceeded to Plymouth, and left that port at 4 p.m. of January 12, had fair weather acrosa the Bay of Biscay, and reached Teneriffe at 8.40 a.m. of January IS; left again at 5.40 p.m. same day, and arrived at Table Bay (Cape of Good Hope) at 5.30 a.m. of the 30th of February ; left that port at 4.50 n.m. same day, and reached Hobart at 5 a.m. of February 22; landed cargo and left again at 230 p.m. same day; reached Wellington on the 26th ult., put out cargo, and. after meeting vnry strong head winds, called at Lyttelton, and arrived at Port Chalmers at b\ls p.m. yesterday.
